Government said it has sealed six sawmills in Ise/Orun Local Government Area of the
State for harbouring illegal logs.
The governmrnt gave the names of the affected sawmills as Kole
Sawmill at Ogbese, Dollar Sawmill at Obada and Ben Simeon Sawmill,
Orun as well as Alabi Sawmill, Oloyede (Edigbe) Sawmill and Semu
Semu Sawmill all located in Ise Ekiti.

Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Environment,
Chief Bisi Kolawole expressed displeasure at the continued illegal logging activities in the area, describing it as economic sabotage.

Kolawole said that the illegal depletion of the natural resources of the state was heinous and capable of leading to avoidable trauma for
the society and generations to come.
He assured that culprits would be dealt with according to the law,
stressing that the affected sawmills would not be opened until all penalties
are paid.
He said that relevant government officials would continue to monitor the
forestry sector to ensure that sanity prevailed and State resources are protected.
