  • The federal government has inaugurated a 19 - man Committee to
finalise the review of the draft National Transport Policy for
Nigeria. He recalled that the National Transport
Policy document had gone to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) where it was referred to the National Economic Council (NEC) for vital input.
A chapter for implementation time frame and the
part of stakeholders was also incorporated in the updated draft," he said. Usoro, who is the Secretary General, Abuja (MoU) on Port State Manage added that the ministry is following worldwide consultations of wide spectrum stakeholders which would give the document wide acceptability in line with the international very best practices.

gov.ukHe mentioned: "When we set up these
commissions, a great part of the budget is spent on overhead.
If you go to the offices, it is like a market spot.
Even although I voted for this bill, it tends to make me wonder regardless of
whether the income ought to go to the state government to run the
affairs. Perhaps the state government should really have these further funds rather than setting up
a commission. I’m beginning to wonder if I voted rightly in voting for the
bill. We should really be careful with these several commissions.
James Manager, Delta-PDP, was specific about the dilemma of
road building in the South-east, which he urged the Senate to
    perform on.

There is the South-east improvement bill that came to this Senate and it received more than 85% assistance.
I have travelled virtually all the South-east and all the federal
roads are in undesirable state. Entering the states has been pretty tedious.
Mr. President, my respected colleagues, that region wants urgent focus.
All the federal roads have collapsed. The South-east development bill
have to be worked upon," he mentioned. Similarly, Sam Anyanwu, Imo-PDP, urged other senators to help equivalent bills from other zones when they surface. The cry of individuals from the North-east was heard by the individuals from the South-east. That was why we supported this bill. I want to say a quite huge congratulation to our brothers from the North-east. With this, I believe the restructuring has started and I believe that when it comes to other zones we’ll also do justice to such scenario.

A Professor of Palynology and Palaeoecology, Olugbenga Ebenezer Ige of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, has advised government to engage palynology in stemming down the prevailing kidnapping incidents in the country. Ige stated the improvement will help in identifying the kidnappers den via subjecting components (clothing, shoes) from released victims to pollen evaluation. He created the call whilst delivering the 11th Inaugural lecture of the University, entitled, Wanted! Dead and Alive: Palynomorphs as Microscopic Signal to the Previous and Present. He also referred to as on the government at all levels to urgently stop the prevailing reckless destruction of vegetation and forest if the nations future is to be assured. Ige mentioned ,there is urgent require to reverse the wanton destruction of our vegetation specifically forest where over 90% of our biodiversity is domiciled. According to him, conscious efforts really should be created by the government to quit or slow deforestation. His words : "Nearly all vegetation in Nigeria
had been degraded and the Tropical rainforest is rapid becoming derived
savannah. Nigeria is a single of the 37 countries listed as having Low Forest Cover with Higher Rates
of Deforestation (LFHD). The work of the
Forest guards and rangers in Nigeria should really be enhanced so as
    to correctly handle our forest.

Bayelsa state would continue to grow from glory to glory.
He mentioned, "This is unquestionably a magnificent building and we thank God for it. What tends to make a property vital is not the building, it is not the furnishings. What distinguishes a single residence from the other is the owner. These in the constructing will in no way know sorrow once more. They came some years ago for blessing and fruits of the womb. Very first Lady cane to me, I prayed for her and her husband. God for giving him the privilege of developing a place of worship for Him. Nigeria as a nation. He mentioned, "Permit me,
then to make a concluding submission. In other words,
high level corruption knows no religion or ethnicity..

They are in government, legislature, judiciary and
the press. Ecumenical Centre Establishment and Management Board.
Our father is right here. On behalf of the whole PFN, I congratulate you.
I want to thank God for Bayelsa state. You will continue to rise and rise", Omobude stated.

A lot of fantastic news has been beaming out of the corridors of energy in Nigeria over the previous week. For me, the prime on the list is the great state of wellness of President Muhammadu Buhari, who was too a lot of occasions rumoured dead, due to his prolonged absence from the country. It is a fantastic time to be back in full throttle. Nigeria, for the very first time in the 15-year history of the Globe Bank’s ease of undertaking enterprise report, was component of the top 10 most-enhanced countries. To add icing to Jumoke Oduwole’s well-baked cake, the nation outclassed Rwanda in its improvement, ranking as one particular of the best 3 most enhanced in sub-Saharan Africa.

Prior to this, Babachir Lawal, erstwhile secretary to the government of the federation, was told to go and chill at dwelling. Ahead of this Baba-chill drama, we saw the swift response of the president to Mainagate — a story nonetheless in the telling. Is the president part of the program as the head of service’s memo suggests? El-Rufai mentioned Buhari gave him the nod to recontest as state governor in 2019, undoing all the 2019 presidency fireworks involving the governor and former vice-president Atiku Abubakar, who seemed to have entered the bout earlier. It was following I finished briefing him that he (the president) gave me the nod to seek re-election with each other with my deputy," el-Rufai stated
early october, rather confirming he was out of
    the 2019 presidency picture.

If Buhari runs and win in 2019, he would break a record as the very first octogenerian to have led Nigeria,
by the end of his second term. In 2015, when at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, I was
told to review George Orwell’s classic, Animal Farm.
At the time, I thought George Orwell wrote about Nigeria, 75 years too
soon. This opinion has not changed. In Orwell’s classic,
animals had revolted against the rulership of man, and decided they had been set to rule and
lead by their personal guiding principles. Just like the All Progressives Congress (APC) "revolted" against the
rulership of the Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP).

Buhari and APC promised heaven on earth they promised to run a lean government, be frugal, bolster the economy,
reduce unemployment, battle inflation, fight corruption, among
other issues. Upon assumption of office, APC started
to blame PDP and former president Goodluck Jonathan for milking the nation dry,
for leaving a lean reserve, and "literally emptying the coffers".
But newest languages from the President Muhammadu Buhari shows that we have not learnt a
lot from the errors of the previous. Speaking to the APC
national executive committee (NEC) on Tuesday, the president mentioned: "By the Grace of God these (new) appointments will be announced soon. In particular now that the economy is improving, we will have the sources to cater for the appointees".
This shows that the president thinks its alright to loosen our economic belt and have new public offices to channel our resources into, and score political points in the course of
    action.

By every passing day, the standards are becoming edited to suit political purposes, just as the
pigs did in Animal Farm. The animals who saw the luxury of
Mr Jones’ life, said "no animal shall wear garments, no animal shall sleep in a bed, no animal shall drink alcohol, all animals are equal".
They believed animals need to be just and not be provided to "undue comfort".

I strongly recommend that our national life-style stay frugal.
We can't be funding new portfolios on record debts.
Mr President, the economy has not enhanced to the state of appointing new ministers to bring in far more supporters, below the guise of fresh suggestions.
And to say you will try "to get the balance right" suggests that we are seeking at a minimum of one particular minister from every geopolitical zone — that is a minimum of six new ministers in all!
Orwell ends animal farm with these lines: "Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No query, now, what had occurred to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outdoors looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man once more but currently it was not possible to say which was which".

No fewer than 600 youths will be trained on employability skills throughout
the Edo Jobs 2017 summit holding from October 31 to November eight in Benin City,
the Edo State capital. The Coordinator of the Edo Jobs 2017 Summit,
Mrs Ukinebo Dare, disclosed this through an interview with journalists on the sideline of the job education programme which commenced on Tuesday.
Dare mentioned the jobs summit is portion of
activities ushering in the Alaghodaro Investment Summit which
will be held from November ten to 12 to celebrate the one
year anniversary of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration. She explained that the trainees were
selected from the Edo Jobs portal and would be connected
to employers both in the public and private sectors soon after the
instruction. This is the pilot stage. We want to bring with each other a lot of individuals and
train them on the needed capabilities that will make them employable.
We will be teaching the participants perform ethics, problem solving expertise, inventive
thinking, how to add values to their organisations, how to package themselves, customer service and
    sales approaches,’’ she mentioned.

In a nation where septuagenarians are still vying for elective positions, a former governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan, at 63 is not carried out either.
Going by his physique language, he believes he has a lot more to
provide. He under no circumstances finds this strange simply because some of his neighbours had been as
soon as his individuals even though practising in the city.
And so it was that the individuals trooped to his house penultimate
week to felicitate with him as he clocked 63 years.
To him, absolutely nothing could be far better than this. Just after all, other individuals who had held comparable office like him are no longer wanted in their community since they alienated the individuals though in workplace only to
    return as strangers.

Passion, they say, can move mountains and in the case of Emmanuel Uduaghan, it did.
As a student Uduaghan had an irresistible desire to pursue medicine.
That was really organic for an individual who had
grown up beneath the overarching influence of a thriving nurse.
His mother was a midwife who was pretty diligent with her calling.
Seeing her going about her duty of delivering babies and the
joy and gratitude that came with it ready Emmanuel for his selection of course he would
later to study. It was also the spur he necessary to venture into medicine.

Although he no longer practices medicine full time,
it is nevertheless his greatest passion. Nicely, along with politics,
that is! Ahead of 1999, Uduaghan was just a healthcare medical professional
engaged in private practice in Warri and like his mother before him he was pretty well-known on the
streets of the famed oil city.

It was for the duration of this election that the political tactician in Uduaghan came into the
fore. Ibori won the election and the grateful governor compensated Uduaghan with the position of Commissioner for Well being.
But his coming as a commissioner coincided with the rise in militancy in the Niger Delta and receiving
the boys out of the creeks for negotiating with new government was a daunting activity.

But fortunately, most of the boys were delivered by Dr.
Uduaghan. They respected and trusted him. He soon took more than the negotiations with
the boys as the coordinator of security in the waterways.
He was in a position to draw the creeks and into mainline society.
And this was completed extended just before that advent of any amnesty programme in the country!

At this point, Uduaghan was desirous of going to the National Assembly as a senator to represent Delta South Senatorial
District which is created up of the Ijaw, Isoko and Itsekiri individuals.
But Ibori persuaded him to keep back. For the reason that he was so thriving in bringing beneath
control, the fratricidal war involving the Itsekiri and the Ijaw and the militants.
A grateful Ibori elevated him to the position of
Secretary to the State Government although
also retaining him as the coordinator of safety in the state.

Despite the fact that he was disappointed, he heeded the governor’s
pleadings to allow yet another of his colleagues,
Mr. James Manager who was the commissioner for operates to go to the Senate.

Providence would soon smile on him when four years later he became the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and not surprisingly,
he won the election. Developing up, the focus of the young
Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan was to be an accountant.
But somehow, fate in the form of maternal occupational influence intervened and the young Emmanuel diverted into the field of medicine following secondary school education at the Federal
Government College, Warri, Delta State. Emmanuel Eweta was
born on October 22, 1954 to Chief Edmund and Mrs. Cecilia Uduaghan. The father
was Itsekiri from Abigborodo, in Warri North Neighborhood Government Location of
Delta State while the mother was Ishan from Ubiaja in Esan South-east of Edo State.

The mixed parentage was to play a significant function, and
certainly accounted for what would be recognised
as Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan’s amenable and open-minded disposition to all individuals, especially in a multi-ethnic setting like Delta State.
The enthusiasm for service immediately manifested in the very first year of his qualification as he was honoured as the most outstanding
health-related doctor in the set of medical physicians posted to the state in that service year.

Following the service year, he was employed by the Delta Steel Business, DSC,
Aladja where he also distinguished himself in service to the extent that he was honoured with the General Manager’s prize for Outstanding Service.
He subsequently disengaged from the services of the medical centre of the DSC to establish a private healthcare facility, named Abode Clinic.

It was named right after his grandmother, below whom he grew up in Mosogar, Delta State.

Uduaghan had by this time started opening himself up to politics or trade
unionism, having served as Secretary, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA),
Warri, and also as Secretary, Association of Private Health-related and Dental Practitioners, Warri
Zone. His very first get in touch with with partisan politics was in the run up to the National Assembly elections of 1992 when he helped in mobilising help for
his cousin, James Ibori who stood as a candidate in that election. Ibori lost that election,
but paid compliments to Uduaghan for providing technical expertise which the candidate confessed immediately after the election, would have helped him win only if he had taken them.
At the restart of partisan politics in 1998, Uduaghan joined the newly formed PDP along with Ibori.

His election as governor in 2007 right after Ibori was virtually like a logical step provided the dedication and deftness he brought to his
    duties as government scribe.

Even even though he totally served in the administration of Ibori,
Uduaghan never ever hid his determination to answer his personal name in the erection of his legacies.
Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan attended Federal Government College, Warri
from 1968 to 1974 and the University of Benin from 1975 to1980 earning a Bachelor of
Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree, and a Diploma
in Anaesthesia. Emmanuel Uduaghan began work in 1983 at the Delta Steel Business, as a medical officer.
From 1989 to 1994, he worked in a quantity of hospitals like
Westend Hospital, Warri Benoni Hospitals, Benin City and Shell Petroleum Improvement Firm Hospital, Ogunu, exactly where he was a Consultant Anaesthesiologist.
In 1994 he set up a private medical practice. He was also into medical association politics
as he held several positions in the Nigerian Healthcare
Association in Warri, old Bendel State and Delta State.

He was also active in the Junior Chamber International (Jaycees) leadership improvement organization. Emmanuel Uduaghan was a founding member and Chairman of the All Nigeria Congress
Association for the Warri South Nearby Government Region, a
founder and executive member of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM), and a foundation member of the PDP.
On six August 1999, Governor James Onanefe Ibori appointed him as Commissioner for Overall health, Delta State.
In this position he improved the pay of health-related
employees and upgraded infrastructure. On six June 2003, Uduaghan was appointed Secretary to the
Delta State Government. He became the governor of Delta state
on May well 29th 2007 having succeeded Ibori. Uduaghan ran again for governor in the 26 April 2011 elections, and was reelected.
He gained 525,793 votes, when Chief Terrific Ogboru of the Democratic People’s
Celebration (DPP) was the runner-up with 433,834 votes.
He is married, with two youngsters. His wife,
Roli, is the daughter of Brig. General Sunny E.

Tuoyo (rtd), at one particular time Military Administrator of Ondo State.

I successfully adopted BOT at the University of Lagos I do not
see why it can not be adopted on a larger scale at the Local, State and Federal levels of Governance.
The fact that Babatunde Raji Fashola who successfully adopted BOT in Lagos is the existing minister for Energy, Performs and Housing
must count for a thing in this regard". In 2002 I was appointed the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos. At the time, I was extremely much conscious of the several problems facing Nigeria Universities of which under-funding posed the greatest challenge. Having said that, upon assumption of office, I found that the monetary issues of the University of Lagos have been much more significant than I could ever have imagined.
