Two brothers whose identities are yet to be ascertained have been run over by a military van at Abaji town, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
A witness said the incident happened at about 8:34am on Monday when a Toyota Hilux van without registration number lost control and ran over the two brothers by the road side.
He said one of them died on the way to Abaji General Hospital while being taken there by the rescue team of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
He said the younger brother who drove a Golf car with registration number LKJ 100 BJ had stopped over to see his elder brother who owned a boutique by the roadside when the Hilux ran over them both.
"The younger brother stopped and parked his car by the road and was talking with his brother when the military van hit them, " he said.
Our reporter learnt that the driver of the Hilux and a senior army officer sustained injuries and were also taken to hospital.
When contacted, the Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander, Olasupo Esuruoso, confirmed the incident, which he attributed to tyre burst.
He said the Hilux driver was later handed over to the police in the area, adding that the remains of the two brothers have been deposited at Abaji General Hospital morgue.
The Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), DSP David Kolo, also confirmed the incident, saying an army officer and his driver were injured in the accident.
"But we are still investigating the incident, after which the matter will be taken to court," he said.
