The Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has said that there can be no meaningful development without the inclusion of communities at the grassroots.
The minister, who spoke through the Secretary, Area Council Services Secretariat (ACSS), Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Bappah, said the concept of involving traditional chiefs and area council chairmen in projects meant for their people is very key to achieving results.
Bappah who represented the minister in flagging off the day-1 of the flood sensitisation programme in Abuja, charged the committee members to ensure that they are thorough in reaching every chiefdom in the FCT.
"Having witnessed what happened to a neighbouring community in Suleija, Niger State, it is a welcome development," he said.
Responding, the Acting Director, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Jubrin Shaba, said not only is the committee going to sensitise the people, but it will also encourage them to embark on self-help projects to prevent flooding in their community.
